Juego de Tronos se ha despedido aumentando su récord como serie con más premios Emmy de la historia. La ficción de HBO acumula hasta 59 premios con los dos conseguidos durante la pasada gala de la Academia de Televisión estadounidense, un número que certifica el éxito de una de las series más importantes de la historia.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge fue otro de los nombres propios de la gala. Su exitosa serie, Fleabag, se llevó cuatro galardones en la categoría de comedia -mejor serie, mejor actriz principal, mejor guión y mejor dirección-, dejando a Veep sin ningún premio en la noche de su despedida.
Destacable fue el éxito de otra aclamada serie de HBO: Chernobyl. La miniserie de Craig Mazin consiguió tres estatuillas en una noche en la que, eso sí, no consiguió ningún premio interpretativo. La ficción fue elegida mejor serie limitada, y consiguió galardones por dirección y guión.
